Gareth joins Empire's Big Screen events

Keen readers of Empire magazine will have spotted Bedlam's Gareth Unwin among the gaggle of movie stars at the recent Big Screen event, organised by Empire at the O2 in London. Gareth was on a panel with producer and director Stephen Woolley, discussing the anatomy of making a Brit hit.

Bedlam Masterclass at Sheffield Doc/Fest

Gareth Unwin, Simon Egan and Simon Breen of Bedlam Productions will all be participating in a special Masterclass event at the 2011 Sheffield Doc/Fest.

The Masterclass, entitled 'Bedlam Productions - How The King's Speech Got Made and Other Stories', will focus on the close relationship between drama and documentary projects, with the emphasis on Bedlam's recent success The King's Speech. They will also discuss their respective careers to date, as well as future projects.

Our Development Producer Will Emsworth will also be at the festival for the duration, and all ears for anyone who cares to grab a moment with him.

The Masterclass takes place at The Lyceum Theatre at 11.30am on Saturday 11 June - click here to find out more, and hopefully see you there!


Firth is Star of the Year

Congratulations to Colin Firth, who won Variety Magazine's International Star of the Year Award at the 7th Dubai Film Festival, which was opened by The King's Speech. The award was presented by the lovely Carey Mulligan.


Bonham-Carter bags acting award for TKS

Helena Bonham-Carter was today the first member of the cast for The King's Speech to win herself an acting prize after she was presented with the Hollywood Supporting Actress Award at the Hollywood Film Festival for her portrayal of Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. Tom Hooper was also honoured with the Hollywood Directing Award.


King's Speech's premiere success

A great time was had by one and all at the European premiere of The King's Speech on Thursday, as part of the London Film Festival. The film received a fantastic response from the audience and has elicited 4 and 5 star reviews all round. We now keenly await the US release in late November.

Excitement as King's Speech UK premiere nears

Everyone at Bedlam is getting very excited in preparation for the UK premiere of The King's Speech at the BFI London Film Festival tonight! The film will be shown as the American Express Gala, with a red carpet laid out at the famous Odeon cinema on Leicester Square - we are just hours away from donning our swanky outfits for the black tie event and after-party.

Exam picks up an award

We are delighted to announce that Exam was the recipient of the Bronze Hitchcock award at the Dinard Festival of British Film, in France. As part of the prize, the film will now be shown in 40 cinemas across Brittany.
