Zodiac Distribution sign deal with Bedlam

Zodiak Rights has signed a first-look development deal with UK indies Bedlam Productions and StoryVault Films and will take their programming to MIPTV.

Bedlam Productions, producer of the Oscar award-winning The King’s Speech (2010), currently has a wide range of feature films and documentaries in production, including documentary RMS Titanic: Case Closed (1x90’), for National Geographic International channels and the Smithsonian channel, which explores the real reasons behind the sinking and lack of rescue of the infamous ship.

The first-look deal will cover Bedlam Productions’ factual slate. 

StoryVault Films was formed in 2010 by former head of ITV and md of Liberty Bell Stuart Prebble in partnership with the MD of Scream Films StoryVault. The company specializes in factual, factual entertainment and drama-documentary formats.

The first programmes to come under the deal on the Bedlam Productions portfolio are WWI Top Gun Revealed and The King’s Speech Revealed. On the StoryVault slate are Objects of Desire, Bulk Buy Britain and long-running Sky Arts show The Book Show.

Bedlam Productions WWI Top Gun Revealed (1 x 60’ Five/The History Channel UK) has just launched in the UK and charts the technological evolution of the first air force with exclusive access to The Vintage Aviators, a unique fleet of replica aircraft. It mixes present day airplane reconstruction with expert interviews and archive materials.

The King’s Speech Revealed (1 x 60’ Five) is the true story of King George VI's speech therapist Lionel Logue - made famous by the Oscar-winning film The King’s Speech - as his grandson Mark Logue re-examines his legacy and discovers the hero behind the history.

Objects of Desire (6 x 60’ Sky Arts), presented by Mariella Frostrup, takes viewers on a journey of the world’s most impressive and beautiful objects such John Makepeace iconic furniture. The series is set to air this autumn.

Bulk Buy Britain (1 x 60’ Channel 4), is a pilot airing this spring, which follows London businessman Justin Preston as he encourages communities to negotiate discounts on a wide range of products.

Bedlam Productions and StoryVault Films join a number of first-look producers represented by Zodiak Rights including Big Fat Gypsy Wedding producer Firecracker Films and The Food Hospital’s production company Betty.

Zodiak Rights owns the distribution rights for both the format and finished shows to Bedlam Productions factual programming and StoryVault Films productions.
